Why a video download is not working
Fix a video link that will not download: unsupported sites, private posts, missing files, and short links.

Read the message on the result
Get Download Links either shows an error under the box or a result card. An error means the address is not a supported public link. A card with no MP4 means the platform was recognized but did not publish a direct file. Those are different outcomes.
Check the link itself
Most failures are the URL, not the button.
- Paste the full address, including https://. A title or a search phrase is not a video link.
- Use a host the site supports: Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, X, Vimeo, or Dailymotion. Other sites are rejected on purpose.
- Open the link in a private window. If it asks you to log in, this tool cannot see it either.
- For YouTube, expect a preview only. There is no MP4 by design. Read the YouTube guide.
- Retry once after you copy the link again from the share sheet. Edited or deleted posts disappear.
When the preview is enough
Vimeo and Dailymotion often allow a public preview while the media file stays a stream. Instagram and Facebook do the same for some posts. The line under the thumbnail tells you that no direct file was published. Use Open original rather than looking for a hidden button.
X is the platform most likely to list several MP4 sizes for a public video post. If that post has no buttons, it has no public video file.
